Notice to Mariners

No.71 of 2002.  Northfleet Hope. Tilbury Grain Terminal Inner Berth. Recommended Berthing/Unberthing Parameters.

After a period of operations since the building of the Northfleet Hope Container Terminal upper berth, the following berthing and unberthing parameters are recommended by the Port of London Authority in respect of access to the Tilbury Grain Terminal Inner Berth.

Berthing and unberthing should be confined to a period between one hour before high water Tilbury to half an hour after high water Tilbury.

Vessels of over 100 metres in length are recommended to take at least 1 tug when manoeuvring to and from the berth, especially when a vessel is lying on the Northfleet Hope Container Terminal upper berth.

These recommendations which are adhered to by PLA pilots may be amended from time to time in the light of further experience.
