About the Port of London .JPG) The Port of London is the largest in the South East of England and the third largest port in the UK. It handles over 53 million tonnes of cargo - carried in 12,500 commercial vessels that visit the Port each year. The Port itself is made up of over 70 operational wharves and encompasses the entire tidal Thames from Margate/Clacton-on-Sea to Teddington, some 95 miles.
